Home

Nestled in the heart of beautiful picturesque Parke County, the Olde Bridgeton School is located on the south end of Bridgeton Road in Bridgeton, Indiana.  Just 4 blocks from the Bridgeton Covered Bridge, the school was completed in 1925 and retired as an active school in 1986.  Year-round visitors can see pictures of all the Bridgeton High School Graduates from 1924 - 1960.  Step back in time as you visit the Olde Gymnasium with original woodwork and bleachers.  See all trophies and plaques of past athletes.  See the memorabilia of past days and history of a more simpler way of life.  Both inside and outside, you can visualize and almost hear the days of yesteryear!!

The Olde Bridgeton School is a favorite stop and pastime for both local residents and tourists.  Someone always has a story to tell.

RV and primitive camping is available in our campground which is open from April 1 throug November 1, with our modern restroom  and shower facilities available for our patrons.

Rentals of the Gymnasium and grounds are also available for private parties, reunions, rallies, hospitality meetings, weddings, showers, etc.

Motorcycle rallies are welcome.  Motoguzzi Indiana-chapter members congregate every April and September on the grounds.  Harley-Davidson and other motorcycles are welcome to attend as well.

During the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival every October and some other community annual events, you can browse through quality arts and crafts, antiques, collectibles, and homemade and handmade items.

Not only during the Festival, but from Maple Syrup Festival in February through the Parke County Christmas Shopping Days in December you can visit the Classroom Antiques and Collectibles Room located off the main lobby in Room 1.

Lodging for the Festival and other events are available on a limited basis.

What We Do

Retired as an educational facility in 1986, the Olde Bridgeton School was purchased by a local resident, a former OBS student, and his wife.  They have made the school their home by converting classrooms.  A work-in-progress, the school still houses all class pictures which are viewed by visitors year-round.  The couple permits visitors to tour their home because they have the attitude that this school once belonged to the students, teachers, and administrators who came here before they actually purchased it.

*RV and Primitive camping is available April 1 thru November 1, with restroom/shower amenities.

* Indoor and outdoor vendors adorn the school property during the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival.

* You can also play basketball and volleyball in the gym.  With indoor recreation, on any given day of the week, someone is playing ball in the gym.  Rain or shine.

* Shop till you drop in the Classroom Antique and Collectibles Room.  You'll be glad you did.
